'Tis the season of longer days and warmer evenings. Outdoor movies are a timeless way to spend summer nights. Here are our top picks for where to catch an outdoor flick this summer.

AVAM Flicks From the Hill: Grab one of the best seats in town for the American Visionary Art Museum’s weekly movie nights on the side of Federal Hill, featuring blockbusters, comedies, and cult- classic favorites on Thursdays at 9 p.m. July 9-August 27. Free. 800 Key Highway, 410-244-1900

Bel Air Outdoor Movies: Bring a blanket to lay on the lush lawn of Shamrock Park for one of six PG-rated screenings with free popcorn. Pre-movie entertainment starts at 7:15 p.m. and varies with each film. Some of the Friday films include The Boxtrolls, The Incredibles, and Cinderella. June 12-August 28. Free. 39 N. Bengies Drive-In: Hop in the car and head back in time at this classic drive-in theater, now in its 60th season, with sunset screenings at 9 p.m. Check out the snack bar for popcorn, an array of hot foods, and desserts. Fells Point Films on the Pier: With the Inner Harbor sparkling in the background and “Domino Sugars” glowing in the distance, catch critically acclaimed films like Kingsman: The Secret Service, Gone Girl, and 22 Jump Street every Wednesday night at Broadway Pier in Fells Point. Little Italy Cinema Al Fresco: Now in its 16th year, the Open Air Film Fest is a Charm City summertime staple. Set up shop in the Da Mimmo’s parking lot every Friday at 9 p.m. with free popcorn and cinema classics like Moonstruck and Casablanca. July 3-August 28. Free. 217 S. High St.

Pics in the Park: For the first year, summer screenings come to Center Plaza at Fayette and Charles streets for three Saturday nights, with oldies-but-goodies like The Princess Bride and noteworthy newbies like The Imitation Game, plus cheap local beer, and food trucks. Reel B.A.D. Outdoor Film Nights: On the third Tuesday of each month this summer, Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment will be hosting an outdoor film series in the Bromo Arts District. Come enjoy old favorites The Sandlot, Crooklyn, Sister Act 2, and Ghostbusters. Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment will also be showcasing Baltimore-based artwork and filmmaking, not to mention beer and snacks from local vendors. Summer Moonlight Movie Series: Catch six family-friendly films in Shops at Kenilworth parking lot on Friday nights, with games and prizes for the kids. Pick up a picnic dinner from nearby Atwater’s, or check out the local food trucks. Films like The Theory of Everything, Annie, and Big Hero 6 will begin around 8:45 or sunset. June 12-August 21. The Wine Bin’s Summer Movies: On Saturday nights, head to Howard County for The Wine Bin’s parking lot pics. Enjoy The Bin’s vino for tasting or purchase, beer, and popcorn, but don’t forget your folding lawn chairs. This movie season catch flicks like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Wedding Singer, Breakfast Club, and Guardians of the Galaxy starting at 9 p.m. May 23-September 26.
