This week, Artscape announced its schedule and musical performances, as well as 2014's tagline of "join the movement" to emphasize all things dance.
The free arts festival—which this year runs from July 18-20—will feature Motown inspired group Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings on Friday night, seven-piece Latin band Ozomatli and New Orleans funk group Galactic on Saturday night, and R&B singer Anthony Hamilton on Sunday.
There will also be plenty of local music on-hand with performances by Bosley, The All Mighty Senators, Yellow Dubmarine, The Crawdaddies, and the Kelly Bell Band, among others.
Artscape's "theme" for this year is anything motion-related with a Silent Disco in Pearstone Park, dance performances at The Lyric, kinetic contraptions along Mt. Royal Avenue, ballroom dancing on Charles Street, and a brand new aerial arts stage at Charles and Preston.
There will also be unannounced flash mobs to Pharrell's "Happy" throughout the weekend, presented by Dance Baltimore. To read more about that program, make sure to pick up a copy of our July issue.
