This is a little last minute, but we wanted to get the word out about a nonprofit we wrote about last year—Soccer Without Borders—that assists middle and high school-age refugees, asylees, and immigrants new to this country, and specifically, Baltimore. Celebrating their 5th anniversary, Soccer Without Borders-Baltimore will hold its "Our World Cup"-themed fundraising gala Thursday night at the Clyburn Arboretum's Vollmer Center from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

Overall, the organization, founded by former collegiate soccer player Jill Pardini, works with more than 50 local, transitioning students each year, and at the event, Soccer Without Borders student-athletes from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Nepal will share their remarkable stories.

Clementine Restaurant will serve World Cup-inspired food, Nelly's Echo will provide live music, and a silent auction will benefit Soccer Without Borders programming. Tickets can be purchased at www.soccerwithoutborders.org/baltimore.
