The Baltimore Seafood Festival, a new event showcasing local restaurants, will be held at Canton Waterfront Park on September 20 from 12-6 p.m.
The inaugural festival will, of course, include oceanic offerings from restaurants like Aggio, Barcocina, Café Gia, Farmstead Grill, Ryleigh's Oyster, Captain James Landing, Jimmy's Famous Seafood, Blue Agave, Stuggy's, Atwater's, and Pitango—with more being added daily.
Additionally, there will be live music from Strykers' Posse and Super Bueno, cocktails, cooking demonstrations from chefs, oyster and crab cake eating contests, and a family-friendly zone. There will be a VIP area and a crab-feast tent with private tables for groups.
The event is presented by B Scene Events & Promotions, the brainchild of one our very own "40 Under 40" honorees Beth Laverick.
“Baltimore loves all things seafood. Baltimore also loves all the wonderful local restaurants that truly make this city one of the best places for foodies to live or visit,” Laverick said. “The Baltimore Seafood Festival will allow locals and visitors to sample signature seafood dishes in a fun, casual environment. My hope is that this event becomes a tradition for years to come."
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Downtown Baltimore Family Alliance.
We have seen recent food festivals take place with decidedly mixed results, but we are confident that Laverick—with all her experience at Waterfront Partnership—will make the city's first family-friendly seafood festival a big success.
